There is an art to making a great apple pie.  My mother’s secret apple pie recipe is one to die for.  I know as I baked pies to order before discovering my talent to cook jams and jellies.  I have appropriated her recipe and tweaked it to turn it into a great Apple Pie Jam.  In fact, I believe other jelly makers have attempted to copy this tantalizing flavor.  I use the Granny Smith apple in making this jam, as the tartness is perfect.

At the markets, customers always comment “tastes just like apple pie”!  It is supposed to and that’s the reason I call it apple pie.  I have had many a customer in search of an apple butter, switch to Apple Pie after tasting it!

Unusual pairing:  

• As a glaze on pork chops
• Stuffed into Pillsbury Crescent Rolls and then bake them

Ingredients:  Granny Smith apples, can sugar, lemon juice, pectin and spices.
